a day for the whole family!

Family Day is our conference-within-the-conference for children who stammer, their parents/guardians and siblings.

We have tons of activities for children across different age groups – as well as sessions where adults can find out more about stammering directly from specialists, and speak to other parents or guardians of children who stammer.

Families are welcome to attend all of the family-friendly events at the main conference too. A chance to learn even more and chat to adults who stammer.

Children & Young People

Sessions for children and young people will start on the Saturday morning at 11am, with breaks for refreshments.

Split between 2 to 3 age groups with a mix of creative activities, the sessions are designed to allow children to meet others who stammer, but also build on their confidence and social skills.

Parents & Guardians

For parents and guardians, there will be a series of short talks, Q&A sessions and time to meet with others and discuss what it is like to have a child who stammers. Specialist speech & language therapists (SLTs) and adults who stammer will be supporting these sessions. Some SLTs may have children who stammer, or stammer themselves.

Afternoon

After lunch, families are welcome to join the main conference and take part in some of our family-friendly workshops and events. Depending on the age and needs of your child, you can attend just the morning of Family Day or stay for the afternoon workshops as well, if you want to.

Lunch and refreshments are included in the Family Day ticket price.

Do you have a specific question? Check out our FAQs page.

*Note: all children and young people attending Family Day events must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
