Fest Need to Knows
by
The STAMMAFest Committee

STAMMAFest is being held at the City Campus of Nottingham Trent University. Nottingham is easily accessible by train, bus and car. Here's some information that will help you before the event and on arrival.

What to bring

Bring your ticket! This will have been emailed to you by Different Breed (check your spam folder). If you can’t see it, email hello@stamma.org.

When you arrive, you can use the QR code on the ticket to check in. If you're not very techy or can’t find your ticket we can sign you in manually.

You will need to bring photo ID to check into the university accommodation. Any photo ID will do, including passport, driving license, transport pass, etc.

If you are arriving on Thursday, do eat before the evening Welcome session, as this will be just nibbles!

Getting there

By tram

It is a very quick tram journey from Nottingham railway station. Follow directions to the NET tram going to Phoenix Park, and it is just three stops. Get off at Nottingham Trent University tram stop. Cross the road and the steps to the entrance are in front of you.

Find information about Nottingham Express Transit (NET) on their website. It includes all the information you’ll need for fares, timetables and maps.

Travelling without a valid ticket can lead to a £50 fine. The NETGO app makes buying tram tickets quick, easy and cheap.

By car

If you are travelling by car, we suggest you use the park and ride services and continue your journey by tram, as parking in the centre can quickly become expensive. We recommend that you use one of the following sites and board any tram serving Toton Lane or Clifton South:

·       The Forest (NG7 6AQ)

·       Phoenix Park (NG8 6AS)

·       Toton Lane (NG9 7JA)

The Q park is about 100 yards away from the venue. The university can give delegates a discount ticket which gets you 45% off the cost regardless of how long you stay. The 24-hour rate is normally £20*, so that would be £11 with the discount per day.

There are 2 car parks with different entrances but the discount applies to both and there are 600 spaces in total. Find Nottingham Talbot Street Parking links here and here.

If you are a Blue Badge holder or need to bring your car to the University because of your medical condition, there is a range of Blue Badge car parking across the city.

By coach

National Express or Megabus coaches both serve Nottingham and will arrive near Nottingham railway station. Check their websites for up-to-date details.

See 'By tram' above for details of how to get to the venue from Nottingham train station.

On foot

Nottingham Trent University is a 15-minute walk from Nottingham railway station.

Accommodation check in2

For University accommodation, check in time is anytime after 2pm. You need photo ID to check into your accommodation. Any photo ID will do, including passport, driving license, transport pass, etc.

Registering

Please head to the Newton Building reception for registration at the conference. See the map above to see where it is. You'll need the QR code from the email you should have received from Different Breed.

First timers

If this is your first time at STAMMAFest, our 'First Timers & Lone Rangers' workshop on Friday morning at 11am is for you.

This will be a fun, relaxed, interactive session where you can join in as much or as little as you like. Bob Adams, who has attended every STAMMA/BSA conference since they began, along with Hilary Liddle (Specialist speech & language therapist), will be on hand to answer all your questions and allay any fears.

Evening meals are included!

Your conference ticket includes lunch, tea breaks and evening meals on Friday and Saturday night, so no need to go elsewhere.

If you have booked accommodation with us at the university, breakfast is included. This is served in the Refectory (ground floor) every morning between 8am and 8:55am.

How to get around the venue

At the venue, you can navigate your way around and find the nearest loo, lift, or room number using this nifty feature https://use.mazemap.com. Type in ‘Nottingham Trent University - CityCampus’ and zoom in! Then type in what you’re looking for.

Or, there will be plenty of people you can ask. Look out for crew members in pink t-shirts.

Wi-fi

You can log into the university wi-fi with the user name: stammafest24 and wi-fi password: 6228!d

What's the dress code?

Come dressed in whatever makes you feel good! You might want to change for the evenings.

Are left luggage facilities available?

Please ask about left luggage options at your accommodation.

Will we be filmed or photographed?

During STAMMAFest we will have a photographer and videographer recording the event.

If you or your child doesn't wish to be photographed or filmed, please pick up a lanyard from the Registration desk so we can identify you.

During the plenary sessions, there will be seating areas that are labelled as no photography zones. Please sit in these sections if you don't want to be filmed or photographed.
